The pickled herring is marinated with vinegar, lemon juice and spices. A light sweet taste of soy sauce make this meal very tender and strongly aromatic. The pickled herring is ideal ingredient for canapes. It can be served with drinks at a party or to salads.

Method

  • Defrost the herring. Then cut into small pieces.

  • Make marinade. Mix the following ingredients in a bowl: soy sauce, vinegar, lemon juice, salt and sugar.

  • Peel the onion and cut it into rings.

  • Take a large bowl, put the pieces of herring. Then pour over the marinade and sprinkle with chopped onion. Leave to soak for 12 hours.
