Cheese and ham omelette

Easy omelette, made of beaten whites, yolks, ham and Cheddar cheese. It is cooked in a frying pan with butter. You will get a fluffy and hearty dish for breakfast. Serve hot with vegetables and herbs.

  • Butter
    2 tbsp.
  • Grated cheddar cheese
  • Salt, ground pepper
    to taste

  • Grate Cheddar cheese.

  • Separate egg yolks from egg whites.

  • Beat the egg whites with a fork/whisk until stiff peaks in a bowl for 5 minutes. If you use mixer, beat them at a low speed for half a minute (30 sec.).

  • Beat the egg yolks with a fork or mixer in other bowl. Season with salt, ground pepper. Pour in the beaten whites. Mix well, add the chopped ham. 

  • Heat the frying pan, add butter. Brown the egg mixture for 3 minutes. Sprinkle with grated cheese, cover. Fold in half and serve!

How to separate egg yolks from egg whites?

  • First wash eggs. Put the eggs to the fridge, so it will be easier to separate the yolks from the whites. Take 3 small bowls. Break the egg into the first bowl, trying not to break the yolk. Then drop it into your palm and take the other bowl. Make the whites drip through your fingers into the second bowl. Then add the separated yolks to the third bowl.

How to whip egg whites?

  • If you want to beat the egg whites, use fresh and chilled eggs. Use ONLY a dry and clean bowl (without fat), made of steel or glass.

How to choose eggs?

    • Buy farm-fresh, antibiotic free and natural eggs. Use only fresh ones, to get a fluffy and tasty dishes. Pay attention to the expiration dates.
    • The eggs are usually good for 1 month or even more if you properly keep them in the refrigerator. Put into the fridge immediately after purchase.
