Eggless chocolate sponge cake

A very easy recipe without eggs. No need to worry that the batter may sink. Just mix all ingredients and put into the oven. If desired, make chocolate glaze and pour over the sponge cake. Serve with tea or coffee.


  • Wheat flour
    12 tbsp.
  • Cocoa powder
    12 tsp.
  • Sugar
    8 tbsp.
  • Baking soda
    1,6 tsp.
  • Vegetable oil
    4 tbsp.
  • Apple vinegar
    1,6 tbsp.
  • Water
    8 tbsp.
  • Vanilla sugar
    to taste
  • Salt

  • Sift all dry ingredients in a sieve (sifter) into a bowl.

  • Mix all wet (liquid) ingredients into a bowl, mix well. Then combine these wet and dry ingredients in one bowl.

  • Pour the batter into the baking pan. Bake in the oven for 40 minutes at 356 F.


  • Do not open the oven at least 30 minutes. Pierce the cake with a toothpick in the center, if the toothpick is clean, the cake is done.

  • How to keep sponge cake from sinking? Firstly, gently transfer the baking dish to the oven, without any shaking. Secondly, do not open the oven for about 30 minutes.
