Shakshuka is ideal dish for breakfast. It is hearty, delicious and easy! Jewish shakshuka is cooked with hot Chili pepper, the Turkish shakshuka with olives. Serve with chopped herbs, freshly baked bread or pita.

  • Eggs
    4 pcs.
  • Sweet pepper
    2 pcs.
  • Canned tomatoes
    2 can
  • Onions
    2 pcs.
  • Garlic
    2 cloves
  • Tomato paste
    6 tbsp.
  • Olive oil
    to taste
  • Chopped parsley
    to taste
  • Cumin
    to taste
  • Sweet paprika
    to taste
  • Sugar
    to taste
  • Ground pepper, salt
    to taste

Method

  • Peel onions, rinse and finely cut. Slice the garlic in the same way.

  • Rinse sweet pepper, cut lengthwise with a sharp knife and remove the seeds.

  • Cut the tomatoes in any shape.

  • Rinse herbs, finely cut.

  • Pour in olive oil into a preheated pan. Add onion and garlic. Brown until tender. Then add the chopped sweet pepper, stirring constantly. Simmer for about 5 minutes.

  • Add the tomatoes, tomato paste and spices to the pan. Stir well. Simmer over low heat for 3-5 minutes. Finally, crack the eggs and drop into the pan. Brown until the whites set for about 10 minutes, close the lid for a while and then sprinkle with chopped parsley.

Tip

  • If you don’t have tomato paste, grate the fresh tomatoes.
