The Hebrew word “Shakshuka” is translated as “mix”. This is a dish made of eggs, vegetables, herbs and spices. The recipe is cooked in a pan for breakfast, brunch or any meal. The main highlight is hot Chili pepper.
If you don’t like spicy food, remove the Chili peppers.

  • Green sweet pepper

  • Chili pepper

  • Olive oil
    6 tbsp.
  • Herbs
    to taste
  • Turmeric
    1 tsp.
  • Cumin
    1 tsp.
  • Salt
    to taste

Method

  • Rinse peppers, cut lengthwise and remove the seeds. Cut into cubes. 

  • Take out the tomatoes from the can, peel them.

  • Peel garlic and onions, finely cut.

  • Rinse Chili pepper, gently peel and cut into small pieces.

  • Rinse herbs, finely cut.

  • Heat the frying pan, pour in olive oil. Finally, brown the onions until translucent. Then add chopped pepper, brown for about 3 minutes. Don’t forget to stir well. Then add Chili pepper and spices, brown again for a minute.

  • Add the tomatoes. Stir well and simmer for 5 minutes.

  • Make the holes (the numbers depend on serving) in the vegetable mixture and break the eggs. Season with salt. Brown until the whites set, the yolk should be liquid. Finally, sprinkle with herbs.

Tip

  • How to peel Chili pepper? Wear gloves and peel the chili pepper, so you do not burn your skin. First wash chili, then cut lengthwise with a sharp knife. Remove the seeds with a blade of knife. Then wash your knife and cutting board thoroughly. Do not touch your face and eyes while cutting.
