Preheat the oven to 300 F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
Remove the scales from the skin by holding the salmon under cold running water and gently but firmly scraping the skin with a knife or spoon. Dry the salmon with paper towels and place them on the baking sheet.
Mix the miso paste, maple syrup, ginger, and garlic in a small bowl. Spoon the paste evenly over the top of the salmon steaks.
Bake the salmon steaks in the oven for 18-20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 140 F and the salmon flakes easily. Remove the salmon from the oven and serve topped with some green onions.
