Method

  • Wash and chop the mushrooms and the sweet pepper. If possible, cut them into cubes. Place them in a separate bowl and season with a half teaspoon of salt and any additional seasonings of your choice.

  • In a large mixing bowl, add the ground beef, flour, milk, 1 egg, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Work the meat like you would with dough. Place the meat on a flat surface and continue doing so for 1 extra minute. Start by forming a flat rectangle out of it; it is preferable to square the edges to make it easier to roll the ground beef.

  • On the flattened ground beef, place the cut sweet pepper and mushrooms. Top with 1 teaspoon of ketchup and start rolling the meatloaf. Do it carefully and as slowly as possible. When done rolling, place the meatloaf on a tray with a baking sheet, sprinkle some black pepper on top, and bake at 375°F for 50–55 minutes until the top reaches a brown color. Afterward, remove it from the oven, let it sit aside for several minutes, then proceed with cutting it and serving it with diverse side dishes.

Tips

  • For a healthier alternative, you can opt for turkey or chicken meat. Chicken meat goes well with mushrooms and sweet pepper; therefore, the next time, try it out and see which one you prefer more.

Bon Appetit!
