Old fashioned rice pudding

Rice pudding is made of cooked grain, mixed with milk, butter and other toppings. In other countries, this dish is called rice porridge. It can be cooked in the stove, microwave or even in the oven. Serve for breakfast with your favorite fruits or nuts.


  • Cooked rice
    21 tbsp.
  • Milk
    2 cups
  • Egg
  • Butter
    1 tbsp.
  • Vanilla
  • Sugar

  • Cook rice porridge. Soak the rice in water for 20 minutes, rinse several times. Fill a pot with water, add grain. Cook for about 20 minutes over medium heat. Let it cool.

  • Take saucepan. Combine the following ingredients: cooked rice, salt and milk (leave ½ for sauce). Mix well and place on the stove. Cook over medium heat for about 20 minutes.

  • Make sauce. Mix the following ingredients: ½ cup of milk, beaten egg (break and whisk egg) and sugar. Then pour to the saucepan. Don’t stop stirring constantly. Cook for about 3 minutes.

  • Remove from the stove, add butter and vanilla. Mix well.


  • To cook white rice, you need 2 cups of water for 1 cup of grain.

  • To prevent milk from burning, pour 1 tbsp. of water to the saucepan and then pour milk in.
