Christmas Pinwheel Cookies

  • Flour

  • Salt

  • Butter
    1 cup
  • Sugar
    1 cup
  • Egg
    1 pcs
  • Almond extract
    1 tblsp
  • Any food coloring
    1 tblsp

  • Let’s start with mixing in a large bowl: flour, baking powder and salt until mixture becomes smooth.

  • Meanwhile, using another bowl with hand mixer whisk eggs, butter, sugar and extract. Combine with flour mix and gently blend.

  • Now, divide dough in two equal parts. In one part add blue coloring and mix until it gets completely blue. Then, shape both red and white dough into two squares, and cover into plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 20 minute.

  • Next step is laying white square on a blue square. Roll it and wrap with plastic wrap. Let it chill in refrigerator for 2-4 hours.

  • Finally, preheat oven to 350F, take baking dish and cover it with parchment paper. Gently cut frozen dough into equal thick slices and place it on a backing sheet. Let it bake for 15 minutes and serve after cooling.
