Bagels make an excellent base for sandwiches. They are perfect for breakfast, lunch or as a snack and you can fill them with anything you like. The main thing is that the bagels themselves turn out delicious, so try out this classic recipe for bagels made from wheat flour with poppy&sesame seeds topping!


  • Wheat flour
    31,7 oz.
  • Chicken egg

  • In a mixing bowl, combine all the dry ingredients. Then add warm water, vegetable oil, and 2 eggs to the mixture, and knead the dough on a surface sprinkled with flour so that it doesn't stick to the table.

  • Form the dough into a ball and let it rest for 25 minutes, covered with plastic wrap. You can also use a clean kitchen towel instead of a plastic wrap.

  • When the dough has risen, divide it into six equal parts and roll each of them into a rope, then shape it into a ring to form the bagels. Arrange the bagels on a baking dish, cover them with plastic wrap and let them rise in a warm place (warm oven) for 40 minutes.

  • Preheat the oven to 374°F. Brush the bagels with a beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame and poppy seeds. Cook the bagels for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Keep an eye on the cooking process, because bagels can easily dry out.


  • Make sure your yeast is active. If your dough doesn't rise, the yeast may be expired.

  • Knead the dough for at least 8-10 minutes to create a chewy texture.

  • Experiment with different toppings and fillings to find your favorite combination.
