Yoghurt Bagels (No Yeast)

Usually, bagels are baked from yeast dough or sourdough. But, you don't need yeast in this recipe! To prepare these bagels, you will need thick yogurt, flour, a pinch of salt, and baking powder. Can you imagine? With just four ingredients and less than an hour, warm, flavorful bagels will be on your table!

  • Baking powder
    2 tsp.
  • Sesame seeds
    to taste

Method

  • Preheat the oven to 356°F and cover the baking dish with parchment or baking paper.

  • Mix the flour, salt, and baking powder. Add the soy yoghurt and knead the dough.

  • Dust the table generously with flour and lay out the dough. Divide it into 5 equal parts. If the dough is very sticky, dust the surface with flour, but not too much so that the dough does not become hard and clogged.

  • Roll each part of the dough into a bun, make a hole in the center with your finger, and stretch the dough into a bagel.

  • Place the bagels on a baking dish, brush with beaten egg white or water, and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake until the bagels will increase in size and become golden.

Notes

  • For this recipe, use low-fat thick yogurt without additives and replace half of the usual flour with whole grains. 

  • Be sure to sprinkle the bagels with sesame seeds - it gives the bagels an incredible flavor.
