Rice pilaf with orzo on the stove is one of the most delicious side dishes that goes well with any dish. It can also serve as an independent dish. This is rice that should be cooked in broth over low heat. Mostly white rice is used in this dish. You can experiment with different spices that will complement and spice up the dish.   • Vegetable broth
    2,5 cups
  • Oil
    0,5 tbsp.
  • Butter
    2 tbsp.
  • Orzo

  • Onion
    1 pcs.
  • Garlic
    1 clove
  • Salt

  • Pepper
    0,2 tsp.
  • Lemon juice
    2 tsp.

Method

  • It is recommended to rinse the rice several times in cold water to get rid of the starch as much as possible.

  • Pour the broth into a saucepan and boil it. Alternatively, the microwave can be used to heat the broth. Next, melt the butter and oil in a frying pan.

  • Let's move on to the next step. Add orzo and stir well. Prepare the pasta for about 5 min. Stir until golden brown. Cut the onion and garlic. Next, reduce the heat. Now it's time to top up the pasta with onions. Fry it for about 4 min. Put the garlic and rice and mix up again. Finally, attach hot broth, various spices and bring to a boil.

  • Simmer the dish under the lid on minimum heat. The cooking time is 25 min. The rice should be soft. The liquid should disappear. Let the dish brew under the lid (10 min) and beat with a fork. The delicacy is ready! Pilaf can be drizzled with lemon juice for a perfect taste.

Tips

  • Long grain white rice is recommended. Then the rice turns out to be more crumbly. When using other rice, there is a chance of getting a mushy mass. And consequently the dish will be spoiled.

  • When choosing broth verify it tastes good. Mostly vegetable broth is used but you can also use chicken broth. In the second case the dish will be more satisfying.

  • You can choose any onion for this dish. Rely on your taste preferences.

  • In order for the pilaf to turn out to be more lush it is necessary to thoroughly rinse the rice.

    • Rinse the rice as follows. First, you need to soak the rice and then mix gently. Pay attention to the grains of rice. They must maintain their integrity. Then pour out the water. Do this 2-3 times. Finally, strain the rice through a fine sieve. To rinse off the starch well, place the sieve under running water for a few seconds. Finally, wait for the rice to dry completely.
