  • White onion , chopped

  • Chipotle peppers in adobo sauce , roughly chopped
    2 pcs.
  • Garlic clove , minced
    1 pcs.
  • Plain tomato sauce
    cups
  • Chicken broth
    cups
  • Coarse Kosher salt
    tsp.
  • Paprika
    tsp.
  • Dried oregano
    1 tsp.
  • Chili powder
    tsp.
  • Fresh lime juice
    2 tbsp.

Method

  • Heat the oil in a medium pan over medium heat.

  • Add onion, chipotle peppers in sauce and garlic. Cook about 5 minutes.

  • Add tomato sauce, chicken broth, salt, paprika, oregano, chili powder and lime juice, stirring to combine. Simmer on low for 5 minutes.

  • Using blender,  blend until smooth. Set aside until ready to use.
