Clean the yams, then slice them into thin fries. Put the fries in a dish and stir in a quarter cup of olive oil to incorporate. In a shallow bowl, combine the steak spice, pepper, garlic powder, and the rest of the toppings. Throw the fries in the oil with your left hand while tossing the pepper mixture on top with your right.
Place the fries in a pan with the remaining oil over medium heat. Sauté for 5 minutes before uncovering and turning the fries. Cover for another 5 minutes; repeat the process until tender.
You can use chili powder instead of paprika. And I recommend low heat if you think the fries will overburn.
