Microwaved Baked Sweet Potatoes

Making your yams in the microwave as opposed to the oven is a brilliant idea, whether you're aiming for a straightforward festive side dish or a low-key evening supper.


  • Sweet potatoes
    2 pcs
  • Unsalted butter
    2 tbsp
  • Honey
    1 tbsp
  • Ground cinnamon
    1 tbsp
  • Salt
    1 tsp

  • Cleanse the potatoes and puncture them several times with a knife.

  • For 5 minutes, microwave the sweet potatoes.


  • Repeat on the opposite side of the potato, and then check for smoothness. If it's not soft enough, cook it for a few minutes more. Wrap them in foil and leave them to cool.

  • When ready, open up, mash the flesh with a fork, and add the spices.


  • Cover the yams with a moist towel to keep the exterior from drying out.
