Put the oven to 425 °F (220 °C). Use soybean oil to grease a pan.
Yams should be washed, peeled, and sliced into wedges. In a wide mixing dish, toss the wedges with the soybean oil. To taste, season with salt and the rest of the condiments.
Place the wedges on the greased baking sheet on a single level. Turning several times, bake for 20 minutes or until golden. Before serving, let the food cool for 5 minutes.
You can double the recipe because the yams go so quickly, though keep the oil at 3 teaspoons as that is plentiful.
