Peel onions and garlic, cut coarsely. Then add to a blender jar, puree until smooth.
Peel potatoes, rinseand cut into cubes. Next, finely cut the celery. Take a large pot. Add the chopped potatoes, celery, onion, spices and liquid from clams to the pot. First cook over high heat, then reduce to low. Simmer for about 15-20 minutes. The potatoes should be done.
Melt butter in a pot or microwave. Pour in half-and-half, sugar, butter and flour to the pot. Stir well until it thickens. Finally, add chopped clams and simmer not more than 5 minutes. Season to your taste.
Don’t overcook clams, they can get tough!
