Peel onions, rinse and finely cut.
Peel potatoes, rinse and cut into cubes.
Cut bacon into thin slices. Heat the frying pan or saucepan, brown the slices until they are crispy. Then add onions, brown for about 5 minutes. Pour in water and potatoes. Season to your taste. Simmer without a lid for about 15 minutes. The potatoes should be done (pierce with a fork).
Add half-and-half and butter. Drain can of clams, leave ½ clam liquid. Then add chopped clams and juice. Cook not more than 5 minutes. Do not bring to a boil!
Don’t overcook clams, they can get tough!
